Where to Take the Kiddies?

Wilson Park in Torrance

Wilson Park in Torrance

I left my photographer in Old Torrance to bring out the beauty of my clients’ home. I worked as a photographer’s assistant for years in New York so I can spot a great photographer. It was warm and humid so I had a yearning to go to Wilson Park for some fresh air.

When I parked, I heard water running and went to explore. Beyond the baseballs fields and the jogging/walking path I heard  the giggling sounds of tiny children.  There I found fountains of water looking like little diamonds sprinkling everywhere in this warm weather.

Laughter, playing dogs, babies on moms’ hips and a dozen little ones acting like they’ve won the lottery!  I think they did!  What I wouldn’t give to do the same?

Wilson Park is a huge Torrance attraction off Crenshaw Blvd. North of Sepulveda. There are so many activities here.  I even come here to take the bus to The Hollywood Bowl for their summer concerts.

Did you know that in 1946, the well known  local author Charles Morrow Wilson sold and donated to the City about 17 acres of land west of the original park.

That park was known as Wilson's Pasture.  This increased the park to today’s size. Wilson asked that the park be officially named Mattie Morrow Wilson Memorial Park, in honor of his mom.  What a great son!  Maybe my son can name the strip of land in the back of our garden Clara Memorial Park. You never know!
