Bicycling in Paris

I used to live in Paris so I thought it would be nice to visit again.

It was overcast this morning but I decided to go bicycling in Paris. I made it as far as the Seine, with lines and lines of people selling books and newspapers on its edges. The streets were busy with little cars that fit into tiny spots, other bicyclers and only one jogger. So unlike California :-)

Lots of pharmacies and little restaurants and cafes. I even saw a couple of police cars on their way.

What struck me was the beauty of the buildings with those on corners ending in a beautiful rounded frame. It was tricky to maneuver around the circle style intersections and we had to wait while other cars passed. Luckily there wasn't too much traffic. Maneuvering through traffic was a whole lot easier than New York. My bicycle riding in New York never took me to the city. I stayed safely in residential areas of Queens.

My Paris ride was complete when I went past the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris and stopped for a few minutes to admire its beauty!

When I lived in Paris most of my time was spent either walking or taking the Metro. I didn’t take too much advantage of the buses. I probably figured it was faster by Metro. Today showed me that I had missed out on not being above ground so to speak. When I lived in New York some of the subways were above ground. Many of them still are. It was and is fun to see people walking by, the ongoing construction, new shops, stores, the weather. I miss New York and Paris. I guess that keeps things interesting and I’m grateful that I can visit frequently.

You too can go anytime. I got a workout and did this from the comfort of my home! Click the link below :-)

Maybe next time I'll go to Germany. Happy Cycling!
