Color Day at Mary Star High School
In honor of Catholic Schools Week, we are featuring portions of the Senior Color Day Mass at Mary Star High School. This has been a tradition since the early years of the school and is a sample of the many events and opportunities provided.
Mary Star of the Sea High School, located in San Pedro, California, serves the Los Angeles Harbor and surrounding communities. The school is operated by Mary Star of the Sea Parish under the supervision of the Department of Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The school focuses on the fundamentals of a quality education interwoven with strong Catholic principles. The curriculum is grounded in a college preparatory program with a four-year honor track option. This is enhanced by an average class size of 24 and a committed, quality faculty.
At a glance, Mary Star High School boasts a 100% graduation rate. In 2020, 98% of the class was college bound. The student faculty ratio is 14:1! Keeping the Catholic tradition of giving to the community and the needy, $2,000,000 in financial assistance was provided for the school year of 2020-2021.
My own child attends Mary Star and I can honestly say it was the best choice we ever made. From the wonderful academics, the caring Principal, teachers, staff and priests, sports teams, events, camaraderie, to the life changing Christian teachings, it has everything one could hope for to prepare our students. Not only academically, but with a view towards serving others, and ultimately, true success.
